How to Install a Law No. 5651 Log Server on Proxmox, VMware and Hyper-V
SignLogger is distributed as a virtual machine (VM) image that installs a Law No. 5651-compliant log server on your own infrastructure, and it runs on VMware, Hyper-V and Proxmox. The general flow has three steps: (1) download and import the image suitable for your platform (OVF/OVA for VMware, a ready package for Hyper-V, a suitable disk image for Proxmox), (2) assign the VM enough CPU/RAM and two disks (root disk + data disk) and set up networking, and (3) at first boot enter the network/license settings and configure the syslog flow from devices and the captive portal. Because it is a ready appliance, it becomes operational in about 30 minutes without dealing with an operating-system install. As log data grows, the data disk can be expanded.
This page summarizes the general flow; exact steps may vary by version and environment. Current packages are on the downloads page.
Which package for which platform?
- VMware (Workstation/ESXi): the OVF/OVA template is imported with “Deploy OVF Template.”
- Hyper-V: the ready package is imported via Hyper-V Manager.
- Proxmox: the suitable disk image is attached to a VM and run.
You can obtain the packages from the downloads page.
Resource and disk planning
SignLogger has two disks: a root disk (system) and a data disk (logs). Size the data disk according to your log volume; you can expand it as needs grow. CPU/RAM should be chosen in proportion to the number of devices collected and the traffic volume.
What to do after first boot?
After network settings and license are defined: configure your devices to send syslog to SignLogger, set up the captive portal (guest Wi-Fi), and define the TÜBİTAK Kamu SM integration for timestamping. You can find which records to collect in this guide and the general obligation here.
Why does SignLogger come as a ready appliance?
The ready virtual-appliance model handles operating-system installation, dependency management and security hardening for you. This speeds up setup and keeps maintenance in one panel. Explore the features or request a free demo.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Proxmox supported?
Yes; SignLogger runs on Proxmox in addition to VMware and Hyper-V.
Can it be installed on a physical server?
SignLogger is distributed as a virtual appliance; running it on a virtualization platform is recommended.
How much disk is needed?
It depends on log volume; the data disk is sized to need and can be expanded later.
How long does setup take?
As a ready image, it becomes operational in about 30 minutes in most environments.
Can I expand the disk later?
Yes; the data disk can be expanded. Follow the documentation and guides for the expansion procedure.
Where do I download the images?
Hyper-V and VMware packages are on the downloads page; choose the package that fits your setup.
