Creating the SignLogger Guest Wi-Fi View (VW_WIFI) for Elektra On-Premises

If you run the Elektra hotel management system on your own server (on-premises), you need to create a view named VW_WIFI in the Elektra database so that SignLogger can verify guest Wi-Fi logins against in-house guest records. To do this, simply paste the SQL command below into the query window of the Elektra database and run it.

Note: The view is read-only; it does not change or delete any record in the Elektra tables.

Requirements

  • Access to the SQL Server hosting the Elektra database (e.g. SQL Server Management Studio).
  • A database user with permission to create views in the Elektra database.

Creating the view

  1. Connect to the server hosting the Elektra database with SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. Select the Elektra database in the list on the left and open a new query window with New Query. Make sure the database selected above the query window is the Elektra database.
  3. Copy the entire command below and paste it into the query window.
  4. Run it with Execute (F5). The Commands completed successfully message shows that the view has been created.
CREATE VIEW VW_WIFI AS
SELECT M.AD, M.SOYAD, M.VATNO AS TCKIMLIKNO, M.KIMLIKNO AS PASAPORTNO, dbo.RES.ODANO,
           CONVERT(NVARCHAR(10), dbo.RES.CITARIHI, 20) + ' ' + CONVERT(NVARCHAR(10), ISNULL(dbo.RES.CISAATI, '12:00:00'), 8) AS BASLA,
           CONVERT(NVARCHAR(10), dbo.RES.COUTTARIHI, 20) + ' ' + CONVERT(NVARCHAR(10), '23:59:59', 8) AS BITIS,
           M.UYRUK
FROM dbo.REZKISI
           INNER JOIN dbo.RES ON dbo.REZKISI.KNO = dbo.RES.KNO
           INNER JOIN dbo.MISAFIR AS M ON dbo.REZKISI.MID = M.MID
WHERE (dbo.RES.DURUM = 'I') AND (dbo.RES.ODANO NOT LIKE 'T%')

Checking the view

To see that the view returns guest records, run the following query in the same window:

SELECT TOP 10 * FROM VW_WIFI

The result should list the guests staying at the hotel. Columns returned by the view:

ColumnContent
ADGuest's first name
SOYADGuest's surname
TCKIMLIKNOTurkish ID number
PASAPORTNOPassport / identity document number
ODANORoom number
BASLACheck-in date and time
BITISCheck-out date, end of day
UYRUKGuest's nationality

The view lists only in-house reservations (DURUM = 'I'); room codes starting with T are excluded.

Defining the connection in SignLogger

After creating the view, add a new connection on the Database Connections screen of the SignLogger management panel:

  • Type: ElektraWEB
  • User Table: VW_WIFI
  • Check Username Field and Check Password Field: enter the columns from the table above that you want guests to log in with on the portal (e.g. ODANO and SOYAD for room number and surname).

For the meaning of the other fields and the Test step, see the Hotspot Management — Database Connections section.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do for SignLogger with Elektra on-premises?

Create the VW_WIFI view in the Elektra database with the SQL command in this document, and add a database connection in SignLogger with ElektraWEB as the Type and VW_WIFI as the User Table.

Does the view change Elektra data?

No. The view only presents in-house guest information from the existing tables as a readable list; it does not change, add or delete any record.

Running the command gives the error “There is already an object named 'VW_WIFI'”.

The view has already been created; you do not need to create it again. Simply check with SELECT TOP 10 * FROM VW_WIFI that guests are listed.

The view returns no rows. What should I do?

The view lists only guests currently staying at the hotel. Make sure there are checked-in guests and that you ran the command in the correct database.
